Light of the Day

Light Creates Life

We all know that light creates life. It provides energy and warmth that is necessary for plants, animals and…well…us, to keep living.

At Burma Road Estates, we are fortunate enough to have ample light. From when the sun first peaks above the horizon at the end the valley, to when it finally decides to drop behind the Lizard range at the end of the day, we get to take it all in.

Health and Happiness

And who doesn’t appreciate a golden sunrise or sunset? Whether it be watching the sun come up from your kitchen window with new snow falling through the air, as you get your coffee and tea ready before a big day of skiing. Or maybe you prefer to take in the sunset on your deck after a long day of biking in the summer, while you feel the cool air rise up from the river below.

Not only is this natural light important for our own health and happiness, it allows us to grow wonderful gardens too. Just imagine being able to grow your own food all summer.

So no matter how you choose to enjoy your sunlight, at Burma Road Estates, we are lucky enough to have lots to share!

Nature’s Highway

Because we are located on the slopes of Mount Fernie, our land acts as one of the last pathways for animals living on these same slopes to access the river. We are lucky enough to sit amongst one of nature’s great highways, where animals such as bear, moose, deer, and elk make their way back and forth between the mountain and river.

Light on the Land

Between the Forest and the River. The area of land along the bank of a river is called a Riparian Zone. This interface between a forest and a river is incredibly important for the health of the waterway and therefore, the plants and animals that call it home.

In a Riparian Zone, the trees of the forest shade the river and limit the temperature change of the waters which is vital for the health of fish and other aquatic animals. These same trees and other vegetation along the bank of a river also provide soil support and act as a biofilter to prevent erosion and pollutants from contaminating the waters.

No Need to Wish

What if you had three wishes? Imagine if someone gave you 3 wishes that you could have come true for your own dream home. What would they be? How about any of these:

The freedom to build the house that you want, when you want, without restrictions
To be part of a living neighbourhood and community of like-minded people
Not constrained to a certain building style, timeline, builder, or home size
Access to bike trails, walking trails, hiking trails, fishing, and other recreation
A place where you can share your natural surroundings with animals and wildlife
